BHAKTHA SAHAYAK DIVISION
A Division of Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Prashanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi
Bhaktha Sahayak Division
Originally started in January 1970, Bhaktha Sahayak Division (BSD) was then known as Bhaktha Sahayak Sangh. The Sangh was started by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba with the sole motive of providing Seva (Service) to the devotees who visited the Lord's Ashrams at Brindavan (Bangalore) and Prasanthi Nilayam. Being a service oriented organization, the Sangh (now Division) has always focused on undertaking activities that have proven helpful to the devotees which include providing for food and shopping needs etc. There is absolutely no “commercial” or “business” element involved in any of the activities. On January 1st, 2009 Bhaktha Sahayak Sangh was rechristened as Bhaktha Sahayak Division under the umbrella of Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust. “Sadhana” in Sanskrit means spiritual practice. “Bhaktha” in Sanskrit means devotee. “Sahayam” in Sanskrit means helping. Thus, Bhagawan Baba has given a clear directive to all those associated with the Bhaktha Sahayak Division to “practice helping HIS devotees”. This in itself is a process of spiritual development to ultimately reach God.
