BHAKTHA SAHAYAK DIVISiON

A Divison Of Sri Satya Sai Sadhana Trust

Prashanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi

The Western Canteen popularly known as the Foreign Canteen was started in the year 2000. It serves western dishes to the devotees who come from overseas. Over the years, thousands of devotees from all parts of the world (from over 190 countries) have been thronging to Prasanthi Nilayam for spiritual upliftment. Like many they came in small and large numbers for Bhagawan Baba’s Darshan, Sparshan and Sambhashan. As the number of devotees who came to visit Prasanthi Nilayam increased Bhagawan opened a Western Canteen for theoverseas devotees as most of these devotees could not consume Indian cuisines.

Western Canteen servesfood for three sessions – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The food that is served to the devotees is first offered to Bhagawan, and thus is literally considered as Prasadam, and not just another meal. In accordance with the sentiment attached to the food, high respect and reverence is given to all matters pertaining to the food here.

Baba says – “Annam Brahma” which means, Food is God. Thus, there is constant effort towards ensuring that the food prepared is not wasted. The devotees are also constantly advised not to waste any food as it is considered a sin.
